History of the Salon 50+ de Laval
Our Origins
The Salon 50+ de Laval was born from a grassroots initiative. In October 2018, two visionary Laval seniors, Ms. Morel and Mr. Gallet, joined forces to create an event that would bring together a wide range of services, products, and resources for people aged 50 and over, as well as their caregivers. Their goal was simple: to provide a space for learning, sharing, and discovery to help us all age well—together.

A Clear Mission

Since its founding, the Salon has aimed to:

-
Provide accessible tools and resources to help navigate the aging process;
-
Promote active and fulfilling aging;
-
Fight ageism and stereotypes;
-
Create an inclusive space where citizens, community organizations, public services, and private companies can connect.

Key Milestones

-
2018–2019: The first two editions of the Salon were a resounding success, drawing an average of over 5,000 visitors each year.
-
2020–2022: The pandemic presented major challenges. The Salon adapted by offering three virtual editions, ensuring that seniors and their families remained connected during uncertain times.
-
2023–2024: A pivotal moment in the Salon’s journey. Initially launched as a private initiative, the event officially became a non-profit organization (NPO). The NPO that took the lead had been involved since day one and brought the expertise and community ties needed to carry the event into the future.
